PCST Awarded Level 2 Club Recognition from USA Swimming!

Tsunamis Continue To Move Forward In Committment To Excellence With National Recognition!

Over the past seven years, the Panama City Swim Team has been working diligently to become one of the premier fully operational aquatics programs in the entire United States.  While it is easy to use fast swimming times as a benchmark for success, the truly critical component necessary to achieve our goals as a team is organization and preparation.

Even before I took over the program in 2006, the Tsunamis were working hard to lay the foundation for team success for years to come.  The board of directors hired their first ever full time coach (me), and worked to build a terrific co-operational agreement with an amazing new facility in Frank Brown Park.  From there we have taken steps each year to make the team more secure for a future that would become greater than anyone ever imagined in Bay County.

Much of our success in the pool in recent years is directly related to the hard work that a lot of parent volunteers, coaches and swimmers have put into the program.  We strive each and every year to improve upon what we did in the previous year, both in and out of the pool.  One way of being recognized for that organizational success is through USA Swimming's "Club Recognition Program."

Just last week, the Tsunamis were awarded "Level 2" of the Club Recognition Program, which is no easy task.  There is a lot of administrative work that goes into it, all of which helps us become a better more well rounded and secure organization.  I would like to extend a special THANK YOU to Coach Brian for all of the work he has done to help us achive this new level.  You can see the new logo displayed proudly on the top right corner of our website now.  Next stop will be Level 3!!

Here is a brief explanation of the program for you to learn more.  If you want to read even more about it, feel free to scroll all the way down for the link to the section of the USA Swimming website in which it can be found.  Congratulations Tsunamis!

USA Swimming's Club Recognition Program

The Club Recognition Program offers our club members a working blueprint for developing strong, stable, financially sound and athletically productive organizations.

Designed over a two year period by USA Swimming's Club Development Committee, this voluntary program presents four levels of achievement across four component areas deemed critical to long-term club success. The program encourages clubs to establish organizational goals and to benchmark their progress toward those goals.

The ultimate objective of the program is to strengthen the club system in USA Swimming by guiding clubs through a development process that ultimately positions the program and its coaches to better serve athletes.

The Club Development Committee looked at many different factors that helped create "great" clubs. The committee grouped all of the factors into four major component areas:

  1. Business & Organizational Success
  2. Parent & Volunteer Development
  3. Coach Development & Education
  4. Athlete Development & Performance
