Training Groups - Competitive Team

The year-round competitive team has several different training groups, each with its own unique focus to maximize the growth and development of swimmers in the Competitive Team Program.   Group Descriptions can be found below.  Before a swimmer can be placed on the competitive team, they must first go through and evaluation with one of our staff to be placed in the most appropriate group.

Age Group 1
This level is offered 4 workouts per week for 1 hour each day.  Once a young swimmer has learned the basic skills, they are ready for further development at the competitive level.  At this level, the swimmers learn to become more competitive with their swimming and compete in all 4 strokes legally.  At this level, we introduce basic dryland and stretching for 5-10 min each practice.  Swimmers in this group will be expected to attend all local swim meets and racing opportunities.

Recommended Equipment: Water Bottle, Fins, and Mesh Bag
Recommended Attendance: 3-4 practices per week
Locations: Frank Brown Park and Gulf Coast State College

Age Group 2
This level is offered a total of five workouts per week (5 days a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes each day).  The focus of this competitive swim group is on building efficient and repeatable stroke mechanics.  We will introduce aerobic training, perform advanced racing skills, as well as perform dryland and stretching for 20-30 minutes 2-3 times each week.   Swimmers in this group are expected to compete at all recommended swim meets and championships.
