20 Tsunamis Moving On To High School Regionals!

PCST Swimmers Strike It Rich At High School District Meets!

The Florida High School swimming season is always a tricky one for club coaches to master.  Not only do the swimmers have a lot of dual meets and invitationals in which to compete all season long, they also have a somewhat grueling championship season each year.  Each swimmer and coach have to come up with a game plan that balances ensuring that the swimmers are fast enough to move on to the next level, but are also prepared enough to swim even faster at the next competition only a week later.  In order to move on to the Regional Meet, you have to swim fast enough at Districts to qualify.  The same goes for the following week when swimmers are trying to snatch up those few remaining spots at the prestigious State Championships.

At the two Districts meets in which our swimmers were zoned for, PCST had a large contingent of Tsunamis competing either in Tallahassee at the 1-A competition, or in Pensacola at the 2-A meet.  The results were nothing short of spectacular, especially considering the fact that we had so many swimmers who were not rested for these meets as their main competition.  The bottom line was this.............the swimmers that were rested, absolutely LIT IT UP!!!  And the swimmers who were not rested...........well.............they too LIT IT UP!  It was fun to watch and I'm super proud of all of the following swimmers for their great races.  Enjoy these great results, but don't get too comfortable because the Regional Meets are coming in a few days and we have even better swims coming our way!

Mosley High School Wins District Championships!
Congratulations to all of our swimmers who competed for Mosley High School last week!  The "Fincredible" Dolphins managed to pull off the team victories in both the Boys and Girls team divisions to become the 2-A District Champions!  This was no "gimmie" since the schools from the Ft. Walton and Pensacola area were pretty darn great.  Way to go Tsunami Dolphin swimmers.  :)

9 PCST Records Fall!
For those of you who are keeping up, you might be wondering; "Why are there PCST records being broken at high school meets?"  Well, the answer is that at the District, Regional and High School State Championship meets, the swims are observed by USA Swimming officials as well as FHSAA ones.  This means that all swims at these three meets will count towards USA Swimming and PCST times.  So feel free to SMASH all PCST records in the process if you like Tsunamis!

All-Time Bay County High School Records Go Down Already!
These particular records are unique because they have to have been done at a high school meet.  That means that a PCST swimmer can only break them during the high school season.  With that being said, it also means that a non-PCST swimmer (in theory) could set one of these records!  Regardless though, these all time bechmarks are the best in Bay County High School history!!  With three County Records already falling earlier this year (Michael Duderstadt 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly), it's even more exciting to not only see 4 more records fall.  However, my favorite part is that they came from three different swimmers.  Congratulations to the following swimmers on their new County Records!

New Bay County High School Records

Duderstadt Qualifies For Automatic High School All-American!
Since 2006, PCST has had 3 swimmers qualify as a national high school All-American!  Those swimmers were Beau Brothers (State Champion), Kevin Faulhaber (State Runner Up), and Cody Bronnenberg (State Runner Up).  Now you can add Michael Duderstadt to that list!  While the announcement for All-American will not be made until late May when the rest of the country has completed their high school seasons, it will not matter for "Duder".  His 56.61 in the 100 Breast earned him and "Automatic" qualifying time, guaranteeing him the distinction in 2012.  Along the way, he has also earned All-American Consideration Times in the 200 IM and 50 Free this season.
