Duderstadt Finishes 5th at Junior Nationals!

Duder Becomes First Ever Tsunami To Qualify For Championship Final At Junior Nationals Championships In Indianapolis!

We had a great great night tonight here in Indy Tsunamis!!  Michael Duderstadt dropped even MORE time tonight at the Speedo Junior National Championship Finals.  In the morning he cut a second off of his previous best of 2:20.62 by going a 2:19.77 and qualifying 4th overall.  That made him the first PCST swimmer in team history to earn a spot in the prestigious Championship Final at Junior Nationals (or any national meet for that matter).

Tonight he dropped yet ANOTHER half second off of his best time to go an astounding 2:19.26, finishing 5th overall in the 200 Breast.  While he may have fallen back a spot, he still dropped more time and we simply cannot ask for more than that!  I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of this young man for performing so well in his first ever Summer Junior National race.

After they paraded the athletes from the championship final down the length pool, they went through each of them and announced some of their major accomplishments in the past.  So PCST and Panama City got some great announcements this morning and tonight.  Then, immediately following the event, they put each of the 8 finalists up on the podium to receive their medals.  Check out the photo on this news article to see his medal!  Pretty cool!

Tomorrow morning (Tuesday), Duder will compete in the 100 Free.  From there he will swim the 100 Back Time Trial on Wednesday, the 100 Breast on Thursday, the 200 IM and 50 Free on Friday before returning home on Saturday.  So keep watching those swims live online on the USA Swimming website and cheer on your fellow Tsunami!  Congrats Duder and let's keep it going!
