Great Swims From 8 & Unders At Dothan!

PCST Up And Coming Young Swimmers Lead The Way At Dothan Waterworld Meet!

While the Tsunamis did not show up to the Dothan meet in full force this year, we still left our mark with a powerful contingent of youngers swimmers in the competition.  The meet that had over 200 swimmers from 14 different teams in the Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana area brought plenty of tough competition.  With our smaller numbers, we were bound to get overrun by the teams at the meet with a lot more swimmers.  However, we packed a lot of punch with our group to finish 9th overall.  But more important than the fast times was the absolute blast our swimmers (and coach) had at the meet!  Here are some of our highlights!

Alex Fulton Anchors Mixed 8 & Under Relay With Come From Behind Victory!
Very rarely do you get to have relays at a meet where you are allowed to combine your boys and girls together to compete against other teams.  But as I have said many times before, this Dothan meet is a LOT of fun and they did just that for our youngest age group.  One of the highlights of the meet was when our Mixed 8 & Under 100 Medley Relay was anchored by Alex Fulton who came from 3rd to 1st on the final leg of the race!  It was beast-like to say the least!  Congratulations to all of our relay members (Luke, Ella, Gretchen and Alex) who won that exciting race!

Tsunamis Have Fun At Dothan Waterworld Waterpark With Coach Brian!
One of the most exciting reasons for attending the Dothan Meet in July is because the waterpark next door, Waterworld, opens the park up for FREE to all swimmers and families competing in the meet.  And better yet, they get the entire park to themselves!  From what I hear, our Tsunamis had a fanstastic time this year as one of our swimmers, Heidi Retherford, even made Coach Brian ride the big waterslide and he screamed like a little girl!  (His words, not mine, Haha!)

Natalie McKenzie Shows Tremendous Promise By Winning Individual Race!
As I told you before, although this meet was a little smaller than others we attend, the competition at the top was still incredible, making it very tough to win a race.  So we are extra proud of not only our mixed 8 & under relay for their come from behind victory, but also for one of our up and coming stars, Natalie McKenzie, for her amazing 50 Backstroke!  Natalie has been kicking some serious booty at our fun meets this summer and did not stop there as she went on to win a major race at the Dothan meet.  Congratulations Natalie!
