Mosley Boys Win Regionals; Hove Shines For Girls!

12 Tsunamis Qualify For The State Championships In Orlando!

While the landscape may have changed for the schools in each state classification, region and district, some things have not changed from last year.  Take, for example, that our very own Mosley Boys are the Class 1A, Region 1 CHAMPIONS for the second straight year!!  After winning the District Team Title last week, the Dolphins have proved that they will be a strong force this coming week at the State Championships in Orlando.  Along the way though, PCST as a team had some FANTASTIC swims at the Regional Championships in Jacksonville that I am proud to share with you.

Great Team Results at Regionals!
As I already mentioned, the Mosley Boys came away as the team champions.  However, the great team results did not end there as our Mosley Girls finished in a very exciting 3rd place position for the team standings.  The Arnold Girls came in 18th overall, and our Bay High Boys finished 5th overall at their Class 1A, Region 1 meet across town also in Jacksonville.  Your Tsunamis had a lot to do with those team finishes and we are very proud of their swims!

Hove Leads The Way As The Regional Champion!
While we had a lot of new best times, records, new top 10 rankings, etc, none were more exciting than Victoria Hove's huge day.  I say that wih all respect to our other swimmers who were fantastic last Thursday.  But sometimes when you're feeling it like Victoria was feeling it, you deserve the extra attention.  The bottom line is that Victoria has been training her tale off to beat the best boys on our team day in and day out.  And as a result, she is now starting to swim times that many of our boys would be thrilled to have!  She won the 200 IM in an amazing2:04.94, missing the Winter Junior National Championships by only 0.05 and the very prestigious Winter National Championships by only 0.85!  Her time drop in the 100 Breast was also incredible as she went from a 1:10.00 to a 1:06.12 in one single swoop.  Oh yeah, and did I mention that she broke the county record in both of those events as well as the 100 free at the end of the night leading off the relay?

12 Tsunamis Will Be Competing At States!
For those of you who do not know, the Florida High School State Championships are not determined by times you achieve at any point in the season like our Southeastern Championships.  You have to swim your fastest times at the finals of Regionals in order to qualify for States.  Our Regions (1A and 2A) just happen to be two of the fastest in the state, meaning we have swimmers competing in our regions that would qualify for States if they were in any other region, but may have missed qualifying because ours is so fast and deep.  While this did affect a few of our swimmers who would have otherwise qualified for State anywhere else, we still had an amazing 12 swimmers qualify and we are so excited about what's in store for each of them this week in Orlando.

Gurganus and Young Qualify For Southeasterns and Hove Gets Spring Juniors 100 Breast Cut!!
While Lindsey and Shane have already qualified for Southeasterns before, the short course meet tends to be a little tougher to qualify for.  So whenever you get a new Southeastern Cut that you have never had before, you should be VERY proud!  I know we are!  In addition to "Super Linds Linds" and the "Shane Train" qualifying, Victoria Hove has qualified in her 2nd event for the Spring NCSA Junior Nationals with a 1:06.1 in the 100 Breast.  That also qualifies her as a bonus event for Winter Juniors, and her 200 IM time was a bonus event time for the Summer Junior Nationals.  Simply awesome guys!

Coming up next for the Tsunamis are the FHSAA State Championships in Orlando, FL on Friday and Saturday.  Our Bay High swimmers will compete on Friday while the Mosley and Arnold swimmers will compete on Saturday.  Then after that, your Tsunamis have 83 swimmers entered in the GPAC meet for the following weekend!  This is the largest team we have ever taken to an away meet and we are SO SO SO excited about it!  I looked through the psych sheet today and cannot wait to get to that meet!  So be cheering on all Tsunamis these next couple of weeks!

CATCH THE WAVE!
