15 Tsunamis Advance To FHSAA Regionals in Individual Events!

Mosley High Boys Lead The Way As 2-A District 1 Champions!

We had an exciting Friday as our Tsunamis represented three different high schools at the District Championships last week.  The Mosley Boys came away as the District Champions once again, while the Bay High Boys and Mosley Girls finished the day as the District Runner Up teams!  Along the way PCST swimmers broke County Records, School Records, PCST Records and even got some new Southeastern cuts!  And while not every Tsunami has moved on to Regionals, our swimmers whose high school seasons have now concluded went out with a BANG!

15 Tsunamis Advance To Regionals In Individual Events!
Congratulations to the following swimmers who will be competing this Thursday in Jacksonville at the very fast Regional Championships!

Mosley (10) Lindsey Gurganus, Michael Whitehead, Jonathan Ratliff, Evan Escobar, Tayloy Wilder, Victoria Hove, Chet Seaman, Michael Duderstadt, Shane Young, Alysiah Stock
Arnold (3) Jamie McDonald, Shannon Doyle, Nicole Gazia
Bay (2) JD Clutch, Dylan Mock

Ratliff and Mosley Boys Break County Records!
Congratulation to Jonathan Ratliff for breaking a very difficult 4 year old county record in the 200 Free.  He was also a part of the Mosley Boy's 400 Free Relay that has already broken the County Record from last year.  Here's to plenty more county records in the next couple of weeks!

Jonathan Ratliff 200 Free (1:45.54) breaks Kevin Faulhaber (1:45.74) from 2007
MHS Boys 400 Free Relay (3:18.15) breaks MHS Boys (3:18.81) from 2010 (*PCST swimmers on that relay were Jonathan Ratliff, Evan Escobar, Michael Duderstadt)

Jamie McDonald Adds Her Name To The Arnold School Records List!
Congratulations to Jamie McDonald for breaking her first AHS all time school record in the 200 Free (1:59.76)!  She will have another shot at improving that record over the next couple of weeks.  Also, the county records mentioned above were obviously school records too.  Jonathan Ratliff broke a 13 year old Mosley High record (from Luke Sweetser) in that 200 Free!

Duderstadt Breaks His Own PCST Record in the IM!
With two more meets to go in the high school post season, Michael Duderstadt has already broken his 15-16 Boys 200 IM record for PCST.  His time of 1:56.73 breaks his 1:56.87 from back in February at the Southeastern Championships.  Awesome job already Duder!

Pridgen, Dietz and McDonald Get New Southeastern Cuts!
Since the high school post season meets are observed by USA Swimming, the times actually count for USA Swimming.  This means that when swimmers get Southeastern cuts, they count!  Congratulations to Zach Dietz for getting his first ever SES cut time in the 100 breast for the 15-16 age group.  And while Casey Pridgen is still 14, he is already getting 15-16 SES cuts thanks to super swims like a 57.3 in the fly!  For Jamie McDonald though, getting SES cuts are tougher these days now that she's 17, but that's not slowing her down as she got her first ever 200 Free cut!

Tsunamis Finish High School Season With A Bang!
While the short course season is not over, the high school season has come to a conclusion for some.  I am proud to say, however, that our Tsunamis who finished the season out with Districts had tons of great swims!  One big name that comes to mind was Casey Pridgen.  Holy cow did that boy light it up and show that he's one of the fastest 13-14 year old boys we have ever had!  Brandon Ramirez finally got to see why we do all of those distance pacing sets as he dropped 11 seconds in his 500!  Brandon Templeton missed Regionals by only one spot as he finished 9th in the 100 Back after prelims, but still posting all best times.  More best times and near Regional misses came from Zach Dietz who had huge time drops!  Hali Naggiar from Arnold found out first hand why her hard work has been paying off with a few big time drops.  And finally, Cassidy Cunningham had a couple of fantastic swims for Arnold along the way.  We're so glad to have her back with the Tsunamis! :)

Next up for our Tsunami high schoolers moving on are the two Regional Championships in Jacksonville.  Our 1-A swimmers from Bay will be competing at the Bolles High School meet while our 2-A swimmers from Mosley and Arnold will be competing in Jacksonville at the Cecil Field House Meet.  Good luck to all of you!  Swim fast and have a great time.

CATCH THE WAVE!

Coach Jonathan
