PCST College Swimmer Committment Ceremony Friday May 20th at Frank Brown!

Allison Troia and Cody Bronnenberg Will Committ To Swim In College at Frank Brown Park On Friday, May 20th at 6:00 pm (All Tsunamis Should Come!)

This Friday, May 20th, a wonderful PCST tradition will continue as we congratulate two of our long time Tsunamis for committing to swim in college starting in the fall of 2011.  Allison Troia and Cody Bronnenberg will sign their committments to swim with two wonderful universities next season.  All members of PCST should plan on attending from 6:00-6:30.  We will cancel Gulf Coast State College practice in order to have all practices at Frank Brown Park that afternoon so you can be there for the ceremony.

Allison Troia Will Swim For the University of North Florida
Troia, a Bay High Top Ten Graduate, has decided to swim with the University of North Florida Ospreys this fall in Jacksonville, FL.  She has been one of the top swimmers on PCST since she was a little kid and is in the Top 10 all-time rankings for every single age group!  Allison's breaststroke and distance freestyle swimming have earned her a position swimming with UNF next season where she will join former PCST star, Sara Evans, as a teammate.  While she has reached great heights in Bay County swimming, qualifying for the State Championships and winning the Bay County Swimmer of the Year, her academics have been just as amazing as she just recently graduated 6th in her class at Bay High.  North Florida will be lucky to have such a well-rounded young student athlete as Allison and we wish her the best of luck next year!

Cody Bronnenberg Will Swim for the University of Florida
Bronnenberg, a highly ranked Arnold High graduate, has decided to swim with the University of Florida Gators this fall in Gainesville, FL.  His swimming career has been the perfect example of the high standard of expectations our senior swimmers are excited to strive for.  He too is ranked in the Top 10 all-time in most age groups for PCST, but more importantly, he is the #1 swimmer in the history of the team in multiple events for all ages.  Cody became the first swimmer in PCST history to qualify for the Summer Nationals (200 Breast; 2:01.43) as well as the first swimmer ever to win the Southeastern Championships in 4 different events.  He even broke every single Arnold High school record so that there is now one single name on that list for all events.  The Florida Gators are a Top 5 nationally ranked team each season, so Cody will have his work cut out for him.  However, if he gives the Gators the same effort that got him to the top of PCST, he too will have many great years ahead of him while competing at the highest levels on the national scene.  Good luck to you Cody because we know you're going to be awesome!

I personally am so proud of these two PCST seniors because they have come so far since the first time I met them.  Back in June 2006, I met Allison when I first joined the team and she was known as "Smurfette" for having blue feet from the bottom of the pool at Auburn.  Can't believe she's graduating now!  And Cody was a rolly polly of a boy who couldn't listen to, understand or remember a single set I gave him.  While his body has changed to a powerful young swimmer, his listening skills............eh.........let's say he's working on them, haha.  He's come along way from the "say what now?" days when I used to give sets and has paved the way for numerous Tsunamis to reach for greater heights.  Both Allison and Cody have done great things with PCST and we will be so proud of them as they continue their swimming careers at two great universities.  You will be able to keep up with them in the "College Swimming" section of our website under "Swimmers" once they start their collegiate careers in September.

Congratulations to both of you!  In the meantime, let's train your butts off this summer so you can be ready to give UNF and UF your best in the fall.

CATCH THE WAVE!

Coach Jonathan
