PCST Novice and Age Group Finish 3rd In Dothan!

Talkington and Gelsleichter Lead Tsunamis in Dothan With 1st Place High Point Awards!

What was intended to be a developmental level meet for our novice swimmers turned into a fantastic team performance by our 14 & Under swimmers to bring home a team award.  While the Tsunamis did not win the entire meet, we sure showed that we are a force to be reckoned with at all levels.  My favorite part about this meet was that the ones scoring great points were more than just our usual suspects.  Some terrific up and coming stars on the team were given the chance to shine and they took it!  Those great swims ended up giving PCST a 4th place overall finish and the 3rd Place Visiting Team Award!  Congratulations on a terrific weekend of swims in Dothan!

Team Scores
Dothan proved that they are still a very formidable opponent as they dominated the meet.  Other great area teams like ATAC and ECS showed that they too can put together a powerful team without using their entire available line-up.  Still though............your Tsunamis were right up there in the mix and this is becoming a common thing for us these days.  In the famous words of McDonalds commercials.........I'm lovin it!

Dothan Dolphins Swim Team.......................1,305 points
Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club.....................848.50 points
Emerald Coast Swimming..............................699 points
Panama City Swim Team...............................528 points
Wiregrass Aquatics Club...............................305 points

8 Tsunamis Come Home With Trophies!
Different host teams have different philosophies awarding high point trophies.  I've seen some meets give out trophies to the Top 16 swimmers and others only to the overall high point swimmer.  DDST has perennially given out trophies to the Top 8 swimmers at their meets and it's always been fun to see new hard working swimmers go home with the hardware.  Each and every one of you should be very proud because you represented your Tsunanis well and scored tons of points for the team.

8 & Under Girls: Marisa Ashley (3rd), Isa Gobel (7th)
10 & Under Girls: Amelia Talkington (1st)
10 & Under Boys: Nico Gobel (2nd)
11-12 Girls: Michaela Ashley (2nd); Katie Lasecki (6th)
13-14 Girls: Fallon Gelsleichter (1st), Alexis Hall (4th)

4 Swimmers Win Individual Events!
One thing I've learned since taking over this program in 2006 is that there are no easyily won events at any local meets in this area, particularly in the 14 & under age groups.  Congratulations to the four Tsunamis that proved they were the absolute best in their age group for the weekend.  Winning an event is never easy and should never be taken lightly.  So enjoy those victories and keep them coming.

8 & Under Girls: Marisa Ashley (25 Free, 100 Free, 25 Breast, 50 Breast)
10 & Under Girls: Amelia Talkington (50 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back)
11-12 Girls: Michaela Ashley (100 Breast, 100 Fly)
13-14 Girls: Fallon Gelsleichter (100 Back, 200 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 200 IM)

5 Tsunamis Swim in First Official Meet Ever!
Each meet that goes by we have more and more swimmers that are trying meets for the first time.  If you enjoyed the meet in Dothan then make it your personal goal to recruit more Tsunamis to go to the next meet.  Lucky for you, our next meet for novice is a home meet, so the sell should be easy.  But keep in mind how nervous and/or excited you were for your first meet and help our over 100 novice swimmers get over that fear because we have SO MANY great swimmers on this team that are yet to participate.  Let's get to racing and help out the team at our next meet!

First Meet Swimmers: John Michael Machado, Reagan Swindleer, Mitchell Christensen, David DeAbate, Chase Fuller

New All-Time Age Group Top 10 Swims
Like I said before, this meet quickly went from a designed developmental level meet to one that had some fantastic swims!!  The stats below just prove that we quite literally had some of the best swims our team has ever had as many Tsunamis found themselves ranking higher and higher in the All-Time Top 10 Swims for their age group.  In particular..............how about Marisa Ashley and Isa Gobel in the 8 & Under Girls??  Those girls are only 7 years old each!  You better get used to hearing those names more often!  And how about Fallon Gelsleichter?  She's only 13 with another year and a half in that age group.  Looks like great times ahead for PCST!

New Tsunami Awards Rankings
I love this section!  I am hoping that more and more of our Tsunamis of all ages begin paying attention to their Tsunami Award point totals.  If you want another copy of the time standars for your age group, email me and I'll send them to you.  I want you knowing exactly what times you need to get to gain those extra points, and then check out how many points you need to surpass the next person or maybe even break the all-time team record for point totals like Fallon Gelsleichter did this weekend in the 13-14 Girls age group!  I will continue to make a big deal out of when a swimmers moves into a new ranking because those are great jumps forward that are a direct result of fast swims which are a direct result of good hard work in practice.

8 & Under Girls: Marisa Ashley improves 1st (75 points), Isa Gobel improves 2nd (50 points), Mady Magness improves 4th (12 points), Audrey Webb moves into a tie for 5th (10 points)
8 & Under Boys: Andrew Aker moves into a tie for 2nd (13 points)
10 & Under Girls: Amelia Talkington moves into 1st (90 points), Molly Grace Bradford improves 3rd (39 points), Peyton Baranowski improves 4th (29 points)
10 & Under Boys: Nico Gobel improves 1st (79 points), Cole Tillman moves ino a tie for 3rd (9 points)
11-12 Girls: Michaela Ashley improves 4th (48 points), Kylie McKinney improves 5th (34 points)

13-14 Girls: Fallon Gelsleichter improves 1st (Team Record 61 points), Alexis Hall moves into 2nd (44 points)

Next up for your Tsunamis is the CMSA Meet this weekend in Mobile.  We have a great group of swimmers going to the meet which already has the hype of being one of the fastest meets in Mobile history, particularly at the 12 & Under level.  And as I type this, our high schoolers are resting up for the Regional Championships over the next 2 days with the State Championships in Orlando just on the horizon next week.  Good luck Tsunamis and have fun!

CATCH THE WAVE!
