PCST Hosts Paradise Invitational; Finishes 2nd!

Tsunamis Finish 2nd Behind ATAC at Home Paradise Invitational

The Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club proved once again that they are still the dominating force in the Florida Panhandle.  To be honest, they are actually a dominating force in the entire Southeastern United States!  However, your Tsunamis put up some really great swims throughout a very competitive weekend and finished 2nd place overall out of 14 teams that competed in the Paradise Invitational.  When you look below, you'll see some VERY good names of teams who finished in the top 5 at the meet.  Your Tsunamis should be incredibly proud of the high finish we had.  But don't worry, we will continue to strive to be the best around, so let's keep working hard because it's paying off!

Team Scores
1) Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC)..................................2,353 points
2) Panama City Swim Team (PCST)..........................................1,379.50 points
3) City of Mobile Swim Association (CMSA)................................1,227.50 points
4) Emerald Coast Swimming (ECS)............................................803.50 points
5) Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club (GPAC)................................783 points

Pentathlon Individual High Point Winners
On Friday night of the meet, we hosted a 13 & Over Sprint Pentathlon that was SUPER fast!  It's not often the older swimmers from this region get to swim 50's of all the strokes plus the 100 IM, so they got into it and had a great time.  Power point rankings were used to determine the overall winner for each individual age.  This person was essentially a combination of the fastest and most well-rounded swimmer in the meet that day.  Congrats to our three Tsunamis who won their age groups.

16 Year Old Girls........Victoria Hove
17 Year Old Girls.........Kyle Olstad
17 Year Old Boys........Cody Bronnenberg

Paradise Invitational High Point Trophies
At our home meets, we give out trophies to the top 5 swimmers from each age group who score the most combined points from the meet.  Since our meets have become so competitive, it's VERY hard to finish in the top 5 overall.  Congratulations to the 7 Tsunami swimmers who finished in the top 5 and went home with some hardware!

8 & Under Girls: Marisa Ashley 4th (55 points)
11-12 Girls: Kalanne Krause 3rd (68 points)
13-14 Boys: Jonathan Ratliff 4th (65 points); Dylan Mock 5th (48 points)
Senior Girls: Victoria Hove 4th (48 points)
Senior Boys: Cody Bronnenberg 1st (80 points); Michael Whitehead 4th (55.50 points)

New PCST All-Time Team Records!
Surprise surprise, the Tsunamis have broken more team records.  Haha.  Seriously though, when we moved our meet to September, we basically lost a month of training to prepare for the meet because it was much earlier in the season.  This lessens the chances we have of breaking team records at the meet and yet we still broke 6 individual traditional records along with a slew of sprint records in the older age groups!  It was fun to watch all of these records fall! :)

PCST Sets 3 New All-Time Relay Records!
It's no surprise that our 11-12 Girls were going to break some records considering those girls are some of the best this team has ever seen.  It was neat seeing Kylie McKinney being a part of her first ever team record though!  I also put out a challenge to my senior boys to break both the 1:30 barrier in the 200 free relay and the 1:40 barrier in the 200 medley relay.  Well, we just barely missed the free relay and thankfully ended with at least one of those two barriers smashed.  Well done boys!

Loads of New All-Time Top 10 Swims, Yet Again!
Are you really surprised?  It was a home meet and let's face it................setting and resetting and resetting all-time top 10 swims is what we do!!  Keep in mind that these are the fastest 10 swims in the history of the team regardless of age group and we are STILL smashing them with no sign of slowing down.  If anything, we're still picking up steam on rewriting the record books.  It's been remarkable to watch and I can't wait to see the next batch disappear!

New Age Group All-Time Top 10 Swims Too!
While we were missing 3 or 4 of our top 10 & Under swimmers at the meet that would have certainly added to this list quite a bit, we still are continuously putting more and more swimmers into the top 10 all-time for their age group.  Goodness, just look at the 13-14 and above and you'll see that we clearly have the best group of seniors we've ever had!  I can't wait to see more of these times go bye bye as the short course season continues.

CATCH THE WAVE!
