Carlee McDonald Signs Scholarship with Florida Southern!

Arnold Senior Carlee McDonald Signs Swimming Scholarship with Florida Southern College!

On Wednesday, April 21st, senior and longtime Tsunami Carlee McDonald signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for the Florida Southern Mocs this fall in college!  Carlee has been a tremendous example of what most parents hope for with their young student athletes.  She is not only incredibly successful in the classroom, but she has also shown other young Tsunamis the path from being a young 10 & under swimmer, all the way up to signing a college scholarship.  Carlee literally has team records in every single age group and has been a leader for our Tsunamis since she was a little kid.  We are very proud of her and will look forward to her returning over the summer (if we're lucky) to help us kick booty in long course each year after she's done rocking her college conference and hopefully even national meets!

The evening ceremony went so well that it may have started a trend for years to come.  The classroom at Frank Brown Park was filled with teammates from every group on the team, high school friends, former coaches and plenty of proud parents and their cameras.  In years past, PCST swimmers have signed their scholarships at ceremonies from their high school.  However, after seeing how proud and inspired everybody was last night, I think we would like to have more signings at the pool with our swimmers' true family...............the Tsunamis!

We had a nice slideshow as well as some heartfelt and emotional words from Carlee and her father.  The path is never easy and Carlee certainly learned that along the way.  However, that just makes it that much more inspiring to hear how proud she is that she stuck through all the ups and downs to make it to that level.  I personally am incredibly proud of all Carlee has accomplished and overcome to get to this point.  I would also like to point out as I did last night that this scholarship signing is not the end of the journey for Carlee.  It is really just the beginning.  She has 4 years of wonderful adventures in college swimming to look forward to.  After seeing how much progress Florida Southern has made in this last year since hiring a good friend of mine (Head Coach Duncan Sherrard) to take over and transform their program, I have a feeling we're going to be hearing LOTS of great things from Carlee and FSC over the next few years. :)

Congratulations Carlee!  The Mocs don't know yet how lucky they are.  You will continue to make us proud.  Now....celebration's over........let's get to work for this summer!  Haha!

CATCH THE WAVE!
