11-12 Boys Break Team Record at PCST Winter Invite!

The Future of PCST on Display at December Winter Invitational

Years ago, PCST used to have a "fun meet" in December that involved our youngest Novice and Age Group swimmers on the team.  We even invited the PCST parents to come and swim some sprint 25's at the meet long before PCST Masters was ever in existence.  Eventually, we decided to go ahead and make that December meet an official meet just for the PCST swimmers.  Once word got out about the meet, other teams wanted to join in each winter.  Next thing we know, it's 2012 and we have nearly 200 swimmers from 6 different teams in the meet and PCST is posting new all-time top 10 swims, getting Southeastern cuts and breaking team records!  That is some impressive progress Tsunamis, and I cannot tell you how proud I was to see all of our swimmers, from all levels, cheering for each other, working hard on their races, and racing fast fast fast in December!

11-12 Boys Break The All-Time 200 Free Relay Record!

You've probably heard me talk about it time and time again this year, but our 11-12 boys group is the deepest and strongest it has ever been.  They continue to break our relay records, often with a different member on the team each time.  This weekend was no different as Cole Tillman, Nico Gobl and Ben Hicks teammed up again, this time with upcoming hard working Tsunami, Jack Lehnhardt, to break the 200 Free Relay Record!  Congratulations boys!

Krause Adds New All-Time Top 10 Swim!
With the PCST All-Time Top 10 swims getting tougher and tougher, it's no surprise that we only had but one new all-time top 10 swim for all ages combined at this winter invite.  With our Senior and Junior Groups taking time off over Thanksgiving, and getting back into the water recently for some tough training and tough strength conditioning, they were pretty darn tired and "beat down".  And in spite of that, Miss Kalanne Krause STILL broke into the Top 10 for the first time ever in the 200 Back!  Can't wait to see how great that swim will be by the end of the season.  Great job KK!

Well Rounded List of New Age Group All-Time Top 10 Swims!

Now this list of swims, on the other hand, is quite full and VERY encouraging!  I told you our age group program was getting bigger, better, and deeper!  This meet was a showcase of the upcoming talent we have in the PCST program, and is an example of how hard work can take you places.  Many of our Age Group Development swimmers and Junior Group swimmers have really made big strides already this season, which means we have a few potentially really great meets coming our way at ATAC/Coast, Districts and Southeasterns!  Take those great results and sprinkle in a few more very good senior group swims, and you've got a great Tsunami holiday desert to enjoy from our home meet last weekend!  Great job guys!

Huge List of PCST Swimmers Who Won Events!

As I said before, years ago this meet was simply an unofficial "fun meet". But now, with their being nearly as many swimmers from other teams in the meet as there were PCST swimmers, winning events has been tougher than ever. But that didn't slow down our Tsunamis! We had a ton of event victories to celebrate last Saturday. Congratulations to all of the following swimmers who were the best of the best at our final meet of 2012. Nothing like going out on top! :)

 New Southeastern Championship Qualifying Times!

While a large number of these Southeastern qualifying times come from swimmers who have already qualified for the meet, we were able to add two new members to the SES Championship Team.  Congratulations to Chloe Griskie, who officially got her first SES cut times with PCST after moving here from up north!  We love having you Chloe and cannot wait for the day when you officially get to represent PCST.  :)  And also, congratulations to our youngest Southeastern qualifier, 8 year old Alex Fulton!  With his gymnastics coach in attendance to watch Alex swim for the first time, the young PCST star did not disappoint!  He competed in his first ever 200 IM, achieving the SES qualifying time right out of the gate!  Alex, you sure don't waste any time!  Congratulations to you and all of our other awesome swimmers who added to their list of SES cuts!

While this meet has certainly developed over the years into a great competition, so has our own program developed.  I saw more interaction, more cheering and more encouragament on Saturday than I had ever seen before at this meet.  Let's keep that good positive team cheer going strong through New Years and into the greatest year PCST has ever seen in 2013!

Be safe this holiday season, and spend some great quality time with your family, friends and loved ones.  :)
